[Chokladbollar]

The first bit of baking most Swedes do growing up. The initial push into the baking pit if you like.

No heat baking, messy, chocolatey and tasty.

My youngest sister used to make the mix, pop it in a tray and leave in fridge until cold, then eat it with a spoon. One of my best friends frequently made one massive ball using the entire mix. There are also little cone shaped versions covered with green sprinkles to represent Christmas trees being made for the holidays. HAVE FUN -THERE ARE NO RULES WHEN MAKING CHOKLADBOLLAR :)

150 g butter, room temperature

150 g caster sugar

3 Tbsp cocoa powder

2 Tbsp cold coffee, or water if you prefer

1 3/4 C quick oats

Kibbled sugar [pärlsocker], sprinkles, shredded coconut, finely chopped hazelnuts or something else to roll them in.

Mix everything other than the topping together in a bowl, shape into balls (or what you like), pop in fridge until cold.

If you are making these on a summer’s day, you might have to leave the mix in the fridge for a bit before shaping if the butter is too soft.
